Believe it or not but it is a fact that Karachi Electric Supply Company consumers of Gulistan-e-Johar have to pay two different bills in a month on the pretext that KESC is streamlining its system. The Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) issued a bill having 2nd March as due date for payment of February 2011 bill.
The KESC also issued another bill received by the consumers on March 19 having due date of payment as March 25, 2011 with a note that KESC was making effort to improve its services and streamline its billing system. The second bills also carry late payment surcharges if consumers failed to clear the bills on due date shown on the bill.
The consumer said that paying two bills in a month is not a joke especially for the salaried persons in present amid soaring prices of goods and they are already facing difficulties in meeting both the ends. Biggest complaints against KESC comes from owners of small business like lathe machine, photostat business, tailors, photoshops, etc who claimed that their business were ruined due to KESC poor services, massive power failure and long hours of load shedding.
