Stringent security arrangements have been made in the Federal Capital ahead of the Joint Session of the Parliament to be addressed by President Asif Ali Zardari today (Tuesday). Rangers and Frontier Constabulary (FC) have also been called in to ensure foolproof security in the Capital.
A special security plan was devised on Monday under which paramilitary troops along with Islamabad Police and Anti-Terrorist Squad have been put on high alert to avert any untoward incident.
The ongoing construction work in the Red Zone has been halted while all the private security guards within the High Security Zone will be disarmed. Police officials in civil uniforms have been assigned the task to keep vigilance on suspicious elements. Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Wajid Ali Durrani has assigned the task of supervising the security arrangements to SSP Islamabad Tahir Alam Khan.
Police commandos have been deputed around sensitive locations and important buildings while special police teams have been constituted for effective patrolling. According to SSP Tahir Alam, the beat officers have been directed to remain alert while Falcon and Eagle Squads have also been assigned the task of patrolling in the city.
