It may be noted that the Federal Finance Minister was due to meet industry stakeholders on March 24 to resolve the controversy relating to SRO 231 has been postponed to March 26, said industry sources.
The finance Minister has left for Uzbekistan along with Prime Minster; therefore, his meeting with stakeholders affected from the SRO 231 has been delayed until March 26. Sources said this meeting will be held in Islamabad where the federal finance minister will listen to the concerns of the industry's stakeholders on the SRO 231 before ordering amended to the controversial SRO. Earlier, the Chairman Federal Board of Revenue Salman Siddique held first round of discussion with industry's stakeholders in Karachi and Lahore. In result of his meetings with textile millers in All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA) Punjab, very impressive development took place. This meeting was followed by official clarification relating to clearance of raw material at the import stage and selling of products to domestic manufacturers.
