The Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh (RCPE) is organising a "Palliative Care Symposium" (teleconference) on Monday at the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre (SKMCH&RC).
The Shaukat Khanum Hospital is making arrangements to have this live teleconference, while the organising committee has put together a varied programme covering some of the common, yet often more complex aspects, of general palliative care. The symposium includes all of the common challenges in palliative care with internationally recognised speakers who will give practical advice, he added.
Palliative Medicine is a well established speciality, focusing on the holistic care of patients with active, progressive and far advanced disease, and a limited prognosis. The principles of generic palliative care apply to a wide range of patients and clinical settings so all clinicians can expect to be involved in providing palliative care at some stage in their career, he maintained.
Audience will have the opportunity to actively participate in the question and answer sessions with the panellists-PR
