More than 150 workers of power-looms on Thursday organised a rally and staged a demonstration in front of Multan Press club to condemn desecration of Holy Qur'an in a church. The rally was led by Khaliq Qandeel Ansari, Secretary General of All Pakistan Power-looms Association and others.
The participants were carrying placards and banners inscribed with slogans against United States and Terry Jones. They demanded publicly hanging Jones and his accomplice Wayne Sapp who burnt the copy of Holy Qur'an in a church of Florida. Traders also staged a demonstration, which was attended by more than 100 shopkeepers, wherein they burnt an effigy of Jones.
Similarly, activists of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz organised a demonstration at Vehari chowk, which was led by Former Punjab Minister Mian Saeed Ahmed Qureshi, Arshad Boota, Adam Khan and Rana Tahir. They demanded that United Nations (UN) should take notice of the highly sacrilegious act.
Trader of Timber Market Multan, also, staged a demonstration joined by about 100 traders. The demo was led by Hayat Khan Baloch and a number of other speakers who expressed their anger against the ugly act. Pasban and students of religious seminaries organised two separate demonstrations in Multan city to express their anger against the desecration of Holy Qur'an by two priests in a church of Florida. They burnt the effigies of both the pastors.
More than 150 activists of Jamiat Talaba Arabia on Wednesday staged a demonstration to condemn the sacrilegious act by the devilish American pastor, terming it a conspiracy of the zionists and the crusaders working in collusion to disrupt peace and order in the world. The demonstrators burnt effigy of Terry Jones and shouted slogans against the zionists.
The demo was led by Muhammad Zia Siddiqui who urged the Muslim world to unite against the intense sacrilegious act of the controversial pastor who, he alleged, acted at the behest of the US government and military. He also called upon the government of Pakistan to take the initiative of mobilising all Muslim states and devise a collective strategy on the platform of the Organisation of Islamic Conference.
Moreover, in a statement, Qari Muhammad Hanif Jhulandari, Secretary general of Tanzeem Wifaq-ul-Madaris Arabia said the UN Security Council and other international organisations have double standards for Muslims. On one hand, they trumpet religious tolerance and coexistence and on the other, they turn a blind eye to such blatant extremism. He said that Pakistan must not be complacent in the face of such fanaticism carried out under the Obama administration.
