The desecration of the Holy Quran by American pastor, Terry Jones triggered protests in Khyber Pakhtoonkhawa, here on Friday. Students and a Shiite Muslims affiliated organisation staged protest demonstration on Friday to express their anger and resentment over the incident.
The student activists of Muslim Students Federation (MSF) and Mukhtar organisation gathered outside Cantonment railway station to lodge the protest. Provincial Senior Vice President, MSF Muslim Khan and district President, Zafarullah Khan led the students while Mukhtar Organisation procession spearheaded by scores of activists and workers.
The infuriated protesters were carrying placards and banners calling for complete boycott of American products after the profane act by the priest. They chanted slogans against the blasphemous act of the pastor.
The Mukhtar Organisation activists called upon the Muslim leaders, Ummah and Islamic Organisations to show unity to protect Holy Quran from any sacrilegious act and become a true follower of the book and Islam. "Our unity will foil the nefarious designs of American and western states," they maintained.
"Nobody would be allowed to desecrate the sanctity of the Holy Quran, he said adding that the pastor is agent of anti-Islamic forces. The protesters asked the US President Barak Hussain Obama to take notice of his blasphemous act.
The constant profane incidents had hurt the sentiments of Muslims. They demanded of the US president to resign, as he was unable to control such things from happening.
Muslim Student Federation activists denounced the blasphemy of Holy Quran by an American pastor and said that Muslim Ummah had become united against colonial and anti-Islamic powers. The persistent sacrilegious incidents fuelled anger and resentment among the Muslim World. "We will not tolerate insult of the Holy Quran, they said and vowed they would foil all kinds of conspiracies against Muslim Ummah. The protesters called upon the Muslim rulers to carryout world-wide protests against the blasphemy of the Holy Quran and demanded of the United Nations to adopt a resolution in this regard.
