More than 3,000 activists of different religious as well as political parties and traders Friday organised rallies in Multan to condemn desecration of a copy of Holy Qur'an in Florida, United States. They burnt the effigies of Terry Jones and Wayne Sapp after hanging these publicly, while flags of the US were also set on fire.
Jamaat Islami organised a "Hurmat-i-Quran"(Sanctity of Holy Qur'an) rally on Friday under the leadership of Syed Munawar Hassan, Central Amir, Liaquat Baloch Secretary General and Dr Syed Waseem Akhtar, Provincial Chief to condemn the desecration of Holy Qura'n in the US state. Other religious parties, also, staged protests and took out rallies at different places of the provincial metropolis to condemn the profanation incident.
A demonstration was also organised by Sunni Ittehad Council at Chowk Bararan led by Dr Imran Mustafa Qadri. Jamiat Ulema-i-Pakistan staged a demonstration at Chowk Vehari under the leadership of Hafiz Allah Ditta Lashari. A big rally was taken out from Bava Safra, which concluded at Chowk Daulat where Ulema set up a mock court, which awarded death sentence to pastor Terry Jones and Wayne Sapp. Later, their effigies were hanged publicly and then their effigies burnt.
Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam and Majlis Tahaffuz Khatm-e-Nabuwat and Jamiat Talaba-i-Islam organised a joint rally at Hazoori Bagh road. The protester burnt the effigies of the blasphemer pastors. Chanting slogans against the highly heinous act, they warned America that if they would not stop blasphemous actions, Muslim would take hard actions against them. Jamiat Ulema-i-Pakistan staged a demonstration at Vehari chowk wherein hundreds of people participated. The protesters said that western powers propagated that Muslims are extremists but the fact is that they, by such acts, are fanning extremism all over the world.
It may be mentioned here that the religious forces including Jamaat-e-Islami, Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam, Jamiat Ulema-i-Pakistan, Jamiat Ahle Hadith, Sunni Tehrik, Tehrik Minhaj-ul-Quran, Tehrik Hurmat-e-Rasool, Markazi Jamiat Ahle-Hadith, Sunni Ittehad Council and all other major and minor religious parties have launched countrywide protests against the blasphemous act committed by the pastors of a church in Florida, US.
