International Multimodal Transport Association Pakistan (IMMTAP) is going to organise a one-day national conference on 'Rotterdam Rules' today in Karachi. The conference is aimed at highlighting the issues of international transport of goods like carrier's liability for cargo loss or damage.
The Rotterdam rules have a very wide scope of application and propose to apply to all contracts for international carriage of goods by sea, as well as multimodal transport including an international sea leg. These rules have given rise to considerable discussions and controversy among carrier representatives, shippers, freight forwarders, terminal operators, etc. Keeping this in view, the conference on "Rotterdam Rules" is being organised to provide an ample opportunity to the stakeholders to interact with experts.
