Federal Minister for Science and Technology, Mir Changez Khan Jamali said that the attainment of higher scientific and technological education was the only way to steer the country toward social and economic prosperity. The minister said this while talking to National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) officials during his visit to the educational institution.
He was given a detailed briefing by the NUST officials about the university's functions, various attached departments, institutions and the future strategies and vision of the institution to make it one of the top ranked universities in the world. While appreciating the NUST faculty members for the promotion of scientific education, he said, "Such high-tech institutions must be promoted throughout the country as it can act as a backbone in uplifting the educational standards of the society as a whole."
The minister said that the focus on technology, innovation and entrepreneurship by the NUST should be further expanded to make it a research-oriented university having an entrepreneurial culture and creating a visible impact on the society. Jamali also expressed his desire that an institution on the lines of NUST should be built in Balochistan to provide the equal educational opportunities to the Baloch people.
"It is the need of the hour to establish modern scientific institutions on the lines of the NUST throughout the country," he added. Later, Federal Minister visited the three schools of NUST: School of Mechanical Engineering, School of Electrical Engineering and NUST Center of Virology and Immunology to oversee the work and functioning of the departments.-PR
