KARACHI: NIT All Karachi Inter Rover Cricket Tournament began with a colorful opening ceremony at the Aga Khan School Cricket Ground, last Sunday. 18 teams from Karachi are participating in this prestigious annual event.
The chief guests of the inaugural ceremony were Shams Jeewa, Chairperson Aga Khan Youth & Sports Board for Pakistan and Wazir Ali Khoja, Chairman/MD NIT. The ceremony was started with a grand PT show by the children of Religious Education Centre followed by an impressive display by the Aga Khan flute band. Captains of the participating teams were introduced to the chief guests. Later Shams Jeewa and Wazir Ali Khoja inaugurated the event by hitting the ball.
On the opening day, 9 matches were played in which Sultanabad Kings, Darkhana Gladiators, PASK Warriors and Karim Nagar Rams won their matches. The remaining matches will be played on June 10, 2012. The tournament will conclude on June 17, 2012 with a grand closing ceremony.
