Inaugural dinner of the Pakistan Economic Forum under the aegis of Pakistan Business Council (PBC) was held on Thursday evening at the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) the other day. Leading economists, bankers, media persons and politicians attended the dinner.
Those among prominent ones included former Finance Minister Sartaj Aziz, former Governor SBP Dr Ishrat Hussain, former Commerce Minister Abdul Razzak Dawood, former Federal Minister Jehangir Khan Tarin, Arif Nizami, Amin Hashwani, Dr Hafiz Pasha, General Javed Qazi (Retd), Imran Aslam, Sikandar Mustafa Khan, Dr Ijaz Nabi, Dr Asad. CEO Pakistan Business Council Kamran Y. Mirza told the audience that the PBC was established in 2005 with 32 members at present.
Chairman PBC Asad Umar said the Council was striving for setting a common sense based agenda for economic reforms, focusing solutions to economic issues. He said interactive sessions are held with political parties by the PBC. He urged the intellectual elite of Pakistan to prescribe solutions to core economic issues of Pakistan. Umar said President Asif Ali Zardari would chair the Council meeting on April 29 and one-month activity of the PBC would come up with workable solutions for the government.
