The increase in petroleum prices has been challenged before the Lahore High Court. Petitioner Mateenul Haq Chaudhry Advocate filed a civil miscellaneous application in his already pending petition against increased in POL prices. He contended that the matter was sub-judice before the court, but oil and gas regulatory authority (Ogra) and federal government further increased prices of petroleum products by approximately 10 percent.
The lawyer said the matter was of grave public importance and the court should take notice of this on priority basis. He also prayed to direct the respondents to withdraw the impugned notification and status quo be granted in the interest of public at large.
