After unprecedented targeted killings in March, a fresh spree of the same has engulfed the city again from the beginning of April, claiming five more lives including an activist of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Friday. According to details, the victim 27-year-old Shahjahan son of Qasim, a resident of Dhobi Ghath Usmanabad Garden area was gunned down by two unknown armed pillion riders when he was standing near his house.
Resultantly, two bullets hit his head and chest. The culprits managed to flee in leaps and bounds after committing the crime while police shifted the victim to the Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK), where he succumbed to his injuries after four hours.
Scores of MQM workers rushed to the hospital and condemned the said incident. Meanwhile, the police said the victim was an active worker of MQM unit 30, adding that the culprits had used 9MM pistol for his murder. Later the body was handed over to his heirs.
Tension prevailed at Garden and its other surroundings as miscreants resorted to heavy aerial firing and forced the shopkeepers to pull down their shutters. No case was registered till the filing of this report. One Gul Nawab Khan 52 son of Mohammad Sakhi Khan was shot dead at his restaurant located in Lea Market in the limits of Kharadar police station.
Police said the victim, who was targeted by two armed pillion riders and died on the spot, was shifted to CHK for post-mortem. They said the deceased was the resident of Hijrat Colony Sultanabad and a father of four children. A case 192/11 was registered against unidentified murderers.
A body of youth was found in a gunny bag at Old Kumar Wara in the precinct of Nippier police station. The identity of victim was yet to be ascertained, while police found a gunny bag body in a garbage drum at Syed Mahmood Shah Road Old Kumar Wara. Police said according to eyewitnesses, some unidentified men threw a bag from car and ran away. After getting the information, police rushed to the spot and recovered a tortured body of 25-year-old unknown from the gunny bag.
Police said the victim, who appeared to be Urdu speaking was shifted to CHK for legal formalities, was wearing black pant and brown T-Shirt, adding that the doctors suggested that the deceased was died due to suffocation. Later the body was moved to Edhi Morgue for identification. A case was registered against unidentified men on the complaint of state. A young man was shot dead in Sardar Hotel near Al Asif check post in the remits of Sacchal police station.
The incident took place when three men, who were sitting at Sardar hotel situated near Al Asif Square, started quarrel and one of them pulled a pistol and opened fire on 27-year-old Yasir Abbas son of Abdul Aziz. Police said the victim received two bullets and succumbed to his injuries during treatment at private hospital and added that both culprits escaped from the scene after incident. No case was registered till the filing of this report. In another incident, a man was stabbed to death at Marvi Goth in the limits of Shah Latif police station.
Police said the victim 24-year-old Jamal son of Khuda Baksh, a resident of Marvi Goth, was stabbed to death by Pushtoon community in Jirga. The victim alleged a Pustoon, whose name was not quoted by police. Therefore, the alleged person pierced a knife in the victim till his death and ran away from the scene. Police have so far not confirmed any political affiliation of the deceased. No case was registered till the filing of this report.
