Islamabad Police have arrested over 90 outlaws involved in different crimes, besides 207 suspected persons and recovered seven cars, two Kalashnikov assault rifles, one gun (12-bore) 25 pistols (30-bore) and huge number of bullets from the detained outlaws.
According to data obtained by Business Recorder from all police stations of the Federal Capital, incidents highway robbery, purse, cash and mobile snatching, theft, drug pushing and bootlegging have shown upward trend as over 140 incidents of street crime were recorded in 14 police stations of the capital. People were deprived of their valuables of millions in the recorded 140 incidents during the week as 15 vehicles, three motorcycles and other commodities like computers, mobile phones, cash and purses were snatched by the criminals.
Taking note of the rise in crime the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Wajid Ali Durrani has announced a new and exclusive security plan for the Capital under which police stations were divided into beats and beat in-charge were made sole heads of his respective jurisdiction. The plan will be initially implemented in the area of Shalimar Police Station and would be extended in other police stations after its success.
Under the plan Beat In-charge will act as head and of his jurisdiction and to be responsible for law and order situation in his area. A total of six beat in-charges in the North and South area of Shalimar police station will be supervised by two Additional SHOs who will be officers of Sub-Inspector level.
Beat In-charge will be accountable to his high ups in case of any untoward situation and will be assisted in accomplishing his professional responsibilities by two Assistant Sub-Inspectors, six head constables and 12 constables.
The data this scribe collected from police stations 90 outlaws including ten women were arrested by Islamabad Police during the week for their alleged involvement in street crimes, bootlegging, drug pushing, dacoities, car snatching, robberies and other crimes.
Capital Police recovered 1.5 kg heroin, 7.5 kg charas and 403 bottles of liquor during the week. People were deprived of 15 vehicles during the week that include five Mehran cars, one Suzuki Margalla car, three Suzuki pick ups, three Toyota Corolla, two Suzuki vans and one Charade car besides three motorcycles. Islamabad Police have busted seven gangs of criminals involved in arms and drug smuggling, bootlegging, robberies, car snatching, theft and prostitution.
