The Finance Ministry has released only 67 percent for education sector out of its total allocation during current fiscal year against 86 development projects under Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP).
The Ministry had allocated Rs 5.071 billion for education sector during the current fiscal year against 86 development projects (78 approved and 8 unapproved).
But the allocation of the Ministry of Education in the current fiscal year has been revised to Rs 2.69 billion due to economic crises in the country. Out of which Rs 1.79 billion (67%) has been released so far. While the remaining balance of Rs 899.029 million will be released till June 30, 2011.
According to information provided by Education Ministry to Senate Secretariat in replies to questions of Senators, Rs 1.2 billion has been utilised out of the released amount.
In the revised allocation, 640.826 million was allocated for 29 Education Division projects while 470.576 million was expended up to January 2010-11. Similarly, Rs 738.97 million was allocated for 31 education projects while Rs 439.732 million was expended. About Federal Capital, the Finance Ministry has allocated 2.53 billion for 32 F.G Education Institutions in the Capital and Federal Areas in revised allocation while 1.69 billion was expended.
