The 32nd death anniversary of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) founder Zulfikar Ali Bhutto will be observed across the country on Monday (today). The main ceremony will be held in Garhi Khuda Bux, the final resting-place of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, who sacrificed his life for democracy instead of bowing down to a dictator.
Hundreds of thousands of Bhutto lovers including senior PPP leaders have started reaching Larkana, Naudero and Garhi Khuda Bux to attend the anniversary. Thousands of people were seen standing in queues on Sunday to visit the last resting places of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, his martyred daughter Benazir Bhutto, and his sons Shahnawaz Bhutto and Murtaza Bhutto.
"Bhutto is the symbol of courage and he struggled for the democracy in Pakistan and sacrificed his life for the same cause", Chairman Senate Farooq H. Naek said after reaching in Garhi Khuda Bux to attend the anniversary.
Sindh Home Minister Zulfiqar Ali Mirza has directed the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh to take extra-security measures for foolproof security arrangements in respect of 32nd death anniversary of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.
"Blanket cover by the police is a need of the hour to tackle any security situation," he added in his directive to the IGP.
A provincial government official said that elaborate security measures have been made and Sindh government has deployed some 6,000 policemen for vigilance. Besides, more than 500 Rangers and commandos will perform their duties.
The official said scanners had been installed at the entry point and visitors were being frisked if required. Around 40 acres of land have been allocated for parking of 10000 vehicles some 4 to 6 kilometres away from public gathering.
The organising committee has set up separate camps for the accommodation and reception of workers and leaders arriving here from across the country. The Sindh government announced a public holiday on the death anniversary of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto on April, 4 across the province.
The holiday will be observed in all provincial government offices, autonomous, semi autonomous bodies, corporations and local councils under the administrative control of Government of Sindh.
President Asif Ali Zardari on Sunday accompanied by Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Bilawal Bhutto Zardari also visited ancestral graveyard of the Bhutto family. The President visited mazar of the founder of the party, Quaid-i-Awam, Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, laid wreaths and offered Fateha.
