Futures open interest up 26 percent

Total open interest at the futures counter increased by 26 percent to Rs 1.88 billion during the week ended on April 2, 2011. On the other hand, the futures spreads also increased by 45bps to 7.93 percent. Trading at the futures counter, however, remained low and the average daily volume declined by 61 percent to 3.5 million shares.
The top 5 scrips at the futures counter, constituting 49 percent of total open interest position, were POL, LUCK, Engro, NBP and MCB.
