Secretary Information Pakistan People's Party (PPP) Qamar Zaman Kaira said on Sunday that the execution of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto was a 'historic crime' and nobody in the country had accepted the verdict of the case, as a correct decision.
Talking to media-persons in Larkana he said neither the courts, nor the lawyers nor public had ever accepted the verdict of the case against founder chairman of PPP, as a correct decision. He said, nobody gives reference of the case in any court of law in the country, as it is considered a wrong decision.
He said filing a reference in the Supreme Court was necessary to remove a stigma from the judicial history, as everyone considers the execution a 'judicial murder', adding therefore, correction of the record was need of the time.
He said, a reference has been filed in the Supreme Court of Pakistan to reopen the murder case of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, which was mandatory for the PPP.
Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto was declared not only an innocent but also called a 'hero' that is why, even 32 years after his martyrdom, the PPP gets votes in his name.
He said that the Bhutto was not the leader of only Pakistan and the Islamic Ummah, but also of the entire Third World.
Qamar Zaman Kaira said, PPP never intended to take revenge but it wanted to correct a historic wrong and vindicate the position of its founding chairman.
To a question about the performance of the government he said, it has implemented 70 percent of the party manifesto, which by itself is a big achievement. "We do not claim that all issues have been resolved," he said.
No doubt, there is price hike, unemployment and load-shedding in the country but prudent policies are being implemented to meet the challenges, he added.
He said, exports are increasing, revenue reserves of the country are noticing upward trend, which is a result of the government policies. Owing to the government policies, the country has not only become self sufficient in wheat but has also exported this commodity, instead of importing it and has achieved the highest export target, he said.
Kaira said that present government was making all out efforts for the socio-economic uplift of the country.
To a question, he said that the government had launched development projects including construction of water reservoirs to meet the growing demand of the energy sector.
But, unfortunately due to world-wide phenomenon of price hike and its impact on Pakistan, various achievements of the government are not so obvious, he added.
He said, petroleum products price hike is an international phenomena due to which the commodity's price was raised in the country. He said besides introducing reforms in the Constitution, the government has taken the provinces onboard on all the important matters. The government also gave incentives to agriculture sector, he added.
