Railway passengers of Lahore-Narowal Section Tuesday protested late departure of trains from Lahore and demanded strict enforcement of operational timetable. Ashfaq Ahmad Faraz, General Secretary Daily Passenger Association (DPA) told APP on Tuesday that trains, which run in the evening from Lahore to Narowal, are behind the delay in the schedule.
He said that 211-Up (departure time 5:15pm), 215-Up (departure time 7:15pm) and 219-Up (departure time 9:00pm) have been running as single trains for several weeks. Thus, passengers including old people, women and children have to wait for hours for the train.
He alleged that railway operational staff does not work properly and no officer listens to the passengers on their complaints. He demanded that PR follow its timetable strictly. When contacted, Abdul Jabbar, PR Divisional Superintendent said that shortage of locomotives is the major problem, however, all other trains are running on time. He said the problem of trains' delay to Narowal would be resolved soon and an officer has been appointed to look after the matter.
