Apropos a news item carried by Business Recorder under caption "MOP asks OGDCL to scrap KPD project" on 01st April 2011, it is clarified that there is no such proposal under consideration and the project is at Technical Evaluation stage. OGDCL has no intention whatsoever to outsource LPG and it would be extracted by OGDCL itself.
Keeping in view present Energy crises in the Country, OGDCL would make its best efforts for early production from all sources without compromising transparency. There is no pressure on OGDCL Management to annul KPD-TAY and UCH-II Projects and would continue to work in the best interest of public and the country," the clarification says.
Our staff reporter Zafar Bhutta adds: An internal meeting was held in Ministry of Petroleum chaired by secretary Ministry of Petroleum Imtiaz Qazi. Managing Director OGDCL Naeem Malik and some General Managers (GMs) of the company also attended the meeting to discuss the proposal to scrap the KPD project by unbundling it. I stand by my story.
