A law ministry consultant Arif Chaudhry here Tuesday inspected record of the trial and sentence case of former prime minister Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto in Lahore High Court. Chaudhry inspected case documents in closed record room along-with other officials of the ministry.
Record of the case was protected in three big trunks, which includes court verdict consisting of 73 pages, statements of 40 witnesses, FIR, supplementary statements, and hand-written statement of Z.A Bhutto on 53 pages. Power of attorneys of Bhutto's counsels Yahya Bakhtiar, Ghulam Ali Memon, D.M Awan, and state counsels M. Anwar, M.A Rehman, Ijaz Batalvi and Farooq Bedar are also annexed with the record.
The inspection team has also obtained copies of necessary documents, which will be produced before the Supreme Court to plead a presidential reference to revisit the case. The team on Monday had received permission from LHC Chief Justice to inspect complete case record.
