After the astounding success of Brandorama 2010 and KFC AdWar 2011, IBA Marketing Club never rested and AIMED even higher by presenting its mega event of the year, AIMS (Annual IBA Marketing Summit) 2011 on Sunday, the 3rd of April, 2011, at the IBA Main Campus Auditorium. Hosting an audience of 300 people, the IBA Marketing Club was able to provide to the 44 teams belonging to diverse backgrounds and bringing with them a totally different experiences, a whole day dedicated to marketing where they lived and breathed marketing.
The idea was to connect the academia to the corporate world leaders so that the students of today could get inspiration from them and get a feel of marketing in its truest sense. The idea was to provide a platform to the students not only from IBA but also from other universities like IoBM, SZABIST, IQRA, BAHRIA, KU and various others to experience the art and intellect of marketing.
The selection criteria was purely merit-based where the application forms of students registering in teams of 5 were screened with high objectivity and out of over 100 team applications that IMC received, only 44 were selected after a strict filtering process.
The lucky ones who made it to the event were more than thrilled by the motivating speakers who introduced them to the new dimensions and angles of certain phenomenon in marketing that students usually do not take that seriously such as social media, social networking and blogging. The speakers were renowned gurus of their fields such as Fuad Chundrigar, Qashif Effendi, Akhtar Mahmud, Neil Christy, Umair Saeed, Ali Raza Merchant and others.
The day was divided between the three important aspects of marketing; Branding, Personal Selling and Media Mayhem. The teams would listen to the speakers first of one of the three divisions and would then be asked to apply their learning to an activity on the spot. This combination of speaker sessions with team activities was found to be very interesting and challenging by the teams. They appreciated the fact that through this method they would be able to retain more. Sidra Iqbal and Nazia Ramzan who did a great job to keep the audience motivated and energetic through the course of the day hosted the ceremony.
The Dean and Director, IBA, Dr Ishrat Husain who was extremely happy to see students from various universities getting together at one big platform to celebrate and experience marketing, praised the diligent efforts of the IBA Marketing Club under the constant guidance of the Patron and the commitment of the Management Team. He emphasised on the fact that in this fast-paced world, no individual can succeed without the "Can Do Attitude". Only the dedication and this attitude can make one achieve milestones in life.-PR
