A citizen has served a legal notice on the Government of Afghanistan for keeping him in illegal detention for two years. Abdul Aziz of Lahore claimed six million dollars as compensation for not releasing him despite the fact, no charge against him was established and that his illegal detention caused him huge business losses, mental torture and deprivation of freedom.
Dr Farooq Hassan while addressing a press conference said, his client came across many corrupt elements during the course of his detention, which played evil tricks on him. He pointed out that his client was subjected to a series of brutalities and insisted on him to accept he was Abu Talha of Arab origin.
The notice says he could also move to the court in Pakistan or US if no action is taken. Answering questions, Dr Hassan said the matter in hand also has legal relevance with other issues including killing of Pakistanis in Drone attacks, case against Hafiz Muhammad Saeed and others in US court.
