Alleged abductor killed in encounter

Anti-Violence Crime Cell (AVCC) of Sindh Police on Thursday claimed to have exterminated an alleged abductor in a shootout at Gulshan-e-Maymar. According to DSP Irfan Ahmed, the team of AVCC on a tip-off conducted a raid at Mullah Essa Barohi Goth Gulshan-e-Maymar and recovered a hostage, 74-year-old Faisal Abidi, a prominent businessman after a brief encounter, in which the alleged abductor killed, while his two accomplices managed to flee from the scene. He said the team had also recovered a repeater and two TT pistols.
He said the alleged abductors, who kidnapped Abdi on March 20, 2011 from Gulshan-e-Maymar for ransom of Rs 5 million, agreed at Rs 1.2 million for his release. He said the accused were nominated in many cases of kidnapping for ransom and police initiated probe to trace other offenders.
