Punjab government inks two deals on transport facilities: 25 coasters to start plying next month
The Punjab government has signed agreements with two companies for provision of transport facilities to the people and by December, 836 buses would be plying on various routes in the provincial capital under a phased programme. Also, the Lahore Transport Company (LTC) has started process of issuing cards for providing free travelling facilities to the senior citizens and disabled persons, and so far 200 cards have been issued.
LTC Chairman Khawaja Ahmed Hassaan disclosed this while briefing a meeting that was held here on Monday to review transport facilities and steps taken by the LTC in this regard, disclosed an official. The LTC Chairman informed the meeting that a plan for plying air-conditioned coasters on different routes has been finalised and 25 coasters will start plying from next month. A dialogue is going on with a Korean company regarding bus rapid transport system," he added.
While addressing the meeting, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said provision of quality transport facilities to the masses is their top priority and the Lahore Transport Company (LTC) has been set up for this purpose, which is implementing speedily the course of action evolved with regard to Bus Rapid Transport System and provision of new buses.
