All Pakistan Minorities Alliance (APMA) the other day organised the memorial services and condolence reference for the assassinated federal minister for minorities, Shahbaz Bhaitti, in a local church. The Christian leaders and scholars strongly condemned the assassination of Bhatti and hoped his sacrifice would not go in vain.
Members of religious minorities from Multan and other parts of Southern Punjab also attended the condolence reference. The representatives of various minority communities said that Bhatti had represented the interests of religious minorities in the country and stood for the vision of Pakistan's founding father Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah characterised by pluralism, religious freedom, and the rule of law. They demanded of the government to constitute an independent judicial commission to investigate the killing of Bhatti. The speakers said that Bhatti was a global ambassador of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) for interfaith harmony.
