Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Ameer Haider Khan Hoti has asked Peshawar Electricity Supply Company (Pesco) to take practical measures for minimising loadshedding in the province and appealed the people to avoid Kunda Culture and ensure timely payment of bills.
He was talking to the chief executive Pesco, Mohammad Wali here at his office on Tuesday. Participants of the meeting were provincial Minister Mian Iftikhar Hussein, Chief Secretary Ghulam Dastageer, IGP and Home Secretary. Matters pertaining to power loadshedding in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, progress on projects of provision of electricity, problems concerning transformers provision, over billing, arrears and arrest of power theft were reviewed in detail during the meeting.
The chief minister said that the government would extend all out support to the company in connection with recovery of arrears and eradicate power theft. He stressed prompt and practical steps for controlling unscheduled loadshedding in the province. Loadshedding has irritated the whole nation, which is due to national energy crisis and collective efforts are essential for minimizing its effects, he added.The chief Minister lauded efforts of Pesco in restoring devastated electricity networks due to flooding and terrorism.
The chief executive Pesco Mohammad Wali Khan told the meeting that the company is committed for provision of relief to consumers of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa regarding loadshedding. He said that a campaign against non-payment of bills and power theft would be launched as pilot project in Peshawar, Charsadda and Bannu Districts, in order to overcome mismanagement and unnecessary loadshedding.
He said that Pesco would provide all possible relief to the consumers in payment of bills arrears. The Chief Minister lauded the efforts of the company and directed to initiate steps in this connection. Meanwhile, the Chief Minister approved the grant for incentive to Director Physical Education (DPEs) and Librarians working in the colleges of remote and backward areas, as admissible to non-domiciled teachers.
It has a merit to mention here that the chief minister has approved a special package on recommendation of Higher Education Department for non-domiciled teachers in order to make the services in Higher Education Department more attractive in Chitral, Shangla, Kohistan, Battagram, Upper and Lower Dir, Tank, Hangu and Buner districts.
