Assembly Members from various districts met Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif here on Tuesday and apprised him of ongoing development projects and problems of the people of their respective areas.
Talking to the parliamentarians, the Chief Minister said that government is committed to serve the people and a comprehensive strategy is being implemented under the leadership of Quaid of Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif for the rapid development of the province and provision of basic amenities to the masses.
He said that Pakistan has vast resources, however, there is a need to display courage and commitment to develop these resources for attaining the goal of self-reliance. He said that development of indigenous resources could help rid the country of dependence on others and achieve economic and political independence. He said that poverty, ignorance and extremism can only be eliminated by promotion of education.
He said that Punjab government is attaching top priority to the uplift of education sector and Daanish Schools equipped with modern educational facilities are being set up for the poorest students in the backward areas of the province. He said that students of these schools would play an important role in national progress and prosperity.
He said that special measures are also being taken for the uplift of backward areas, while timely completion of development projects is being ensured in Southern Punjab for the benefit of the people. Those who met the Chief Minister included Ajasam Sharif, Pir Muhammad Ashraf Rasool, Zafar Iqbal Nagara and Tahir Ahmed Sindhu.
