A division bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC) here on Tuesday directed additional director Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Zafar Qureshi to appear before the court in person on April 19 in a bail petition of Muhammad Maalick, manger of Moonis Elahi, involved National Insurance Company Limited (NICL) scam.
On Tuesday, FIA officials have produced the record of the case but the CJ adjourned the hearing, observing that Zafar Qureshi should be present in the court as he is well conversant with the facts of the case. Moonis, son of former Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Pervez Elahi, is also on judicial remand for his alleged involvement in the scam.
FIA accused Muhammad Maalick and others including former federal minister Habibullah Warraich his son Mohsin Warraich, of misappropriating NICL funds on account of land purchase. The agency is to recover embezzled amount of Rs 420 million, which accused Maalick allegedly deposited to the account of Mohsin Warraich.
