Pakistan Muslim League (Quaid-e-Azam) Secretary General, Mushahid Hussain Sayed Monday called for broad-based consensus between all the political parties for evolving a joint strategy on four major challenges including economy, energy, education and terrorism.
Talking to former Federal Minister for Food & Agriculture, Alhaj Sikandar Hayat Bosan Tuesday on phone, Mushahid said that government should take initiative and urge the political leadership to rise above party lines and devise a joint strategy over the challenging situation. He urged the government to take all decisions in the parliament and that this Majlis-e-Shura should not be meant for only "sit, talk and disperse" on the national expense.
He said, "government's incompetence, lack of commitment and disability has been clear to the masses during the past three years. You can only judge lack of interest of the government in the nation's affairs of the fact that though the Census 2011 has been launched with tall claims, Census Commissioner for Sindh was appointed just three days back," he said. He added that government had appointed 16,000 enumerators in 1998 to conduct census back while the incumbent government has appointed only 8,000 for year 2011.
PML-Q secretary general said that 'government is long on rhetoric and short in action and the performance of Sindh government is evident from the fact that 87 people had been reportedly kidnapped from the province. Meanwhile, he revealed, 100,000 out of total five lakh (0.5 million) Watan Cards released for flood affectees 'turned out to be fake'. He also alleged that Sindh government is victimising opponents, which is a source of concern for his party.
He announced that his party leader Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and a high level delegation would launch a visit of Sindh from May 8 to reorganise party across the province. He said that his party is not providing oxygen to the government and rather it is government itself, which is seeking their help to save the system.
