Pakistan Village Development Programme (PVDP) in assistance with Norwegian Church Aid (NCA) has completed construction of 250 latrines out of 450 latrines in the houses of most vulnerable flood affectees in union councils, Mohib Banda and Amankot; district Nowsehra under its Wash Project.
The development organisation also installed 100 community hand pumps outside the houses of the vulnerable flood affectees, which is providing drinking water to the residents of the area while installation of 100 more hand pumps in both union councils is also part of the scheme.
Speaking on the occasion, Assistant Programme Manager, PVDP Imran Iqbal another such kind of scheme would be initiated for vulnerable flood affectees of district Nowshera. He said that these facilities are provided to those whose houses were washed away in the flood and they are still deprived of the basic amenities of life. He said that Wash Project was especially launched for provision of clean environment to these people. Iqbal said that those volunteers, which have accepted the responsibility of the running these hand pumps, would be given training under the supervision of the engineers of the organisation to enable local volunteers repair these pumps themselves.
