The Sindh High Court on Wednesday issued notice to State Bank of Pakistan authorities over non-payment of Rs 16 million to prize bond winner since 2002. Petitioner Nooruddin approached SHC, seeking action against SBP officials for not making payment of money won by him in draw.
His counsel Qadir Hussain Khan submitted that the petitioner purchased prize bond No G111962 of Rs 750. SBP on December 16, 2002, announced results of draw of this denomination's prize bond, declaring petitioner as winner of first prize amounting to Rs 160,00,000.
Counsel stated that the petitioner made applications to Director General Prize Bonds, SBP, Banking Ombudsman and other authorities for payment of draw money, but no action has been taken so far. He prayed to order SBP authorities to make payment and order action against officials involved in delay of payment.
SHC division bench comprising Chief Justice Mushir Alam & Justice Syed Hasan Azhar Rizvi ordered: "Let notice be issued to State Bank of Pakistan with direction to inform as to whether number was even drawn in draw on December 16, 2002." Hearing was adjourned to date in office.
