The Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Karachi, Dr Christian Brecht, held farewell reception on Tuesday night to bid farewell to Dieter Freund, Consul and Deputy Head of Mission.
Speaking on the occasion, the German Consul General said the evening had been arranged to pay tribute to Dieter Freund, a seasoned diplomat who had served Germany well in a long and remarkable career spanning 44 years. He said Dieter was retiring and he wished him a happy retirement and prosperous future.
Dieter Freund said Karachi was his last assignment and posting at the end of a long innings with the German diplomatic service. He said his four years in Karachi had been wonderful as he had made many new friends. He added that he wished the country and its people well, and he would have fond memories of his stay in Karachi.
