Punjab Assembly which commenced its first session of fourth parliamentary year here Thursday with chair denying them presentation of a resolution giving reason that consensus need to be arrived between treasury and opposition prior to its presentation.
Rana Mashood in chair said that if he allows this without consensus, it would pave way for future bulldozing by the treasury. However opposition did not agree to his version of things saying their legislators thought that with relaxation in rules chair had the power to do so.
Raja Riaz former senior minister of PPP in Punjab Coalition Government criticised Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif for his authoritarian antics on the occasion. Punjab Minister Chaudhry Abdul Ghafoor and Law Minister Rana Sanaullah stated that this allegation was incorrect as chief minister had allowed more than Rs one billion development work in Raja Riaz's constituency. This allegation was denied in the session by former senior minister.
Punjab Opposition which had made requisition of the 24th session of the Assembly on points of law and order and wheat procurement campaign could not get enough time for the debate in light of three quorum shortages references. In call attention notices Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah speaking of Mausoleum of Sakhi Sarwar (AR) incident said that 19 persons had been arrested with regard to that.
Regarding solid waste management protest recently held, a legislator pointed that recommendation of law committee on that have not been acted upon. Legislator Ali Noor Niazi on a point of order stated that a catwalk was held in the Governor house Punjab. He was of the opinion that such occurrences in a prestigious political house were uncalled for. Former minister Raja Riaz stated that he had confirmed this, that such event never took place. Niazi made a walk out from the house on the issue. Speaker called him in the House later on.
MPA Simil Kamran brought the attention of the House on seating arrangements as contrary to one being told by the assembly secretariat saying that she would bring a privilege motion on that. Speaker clarified the position of seating arrangement to legislator in the session. The Secretary of the Assembly announced four legislators for the 24th session of the assembly on the occasion.
