Replacing Babar Awan in JC's meeting: CJ asks government to appoint law minister
Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, who is also the Chairman of Judicial Commission Thursday told the government to take necessary measures to appointment a law minister who can participate in the upcoming meeting of the commission as Babar Awan has resigned to plead ZAB reference.
The commission which is scheduled to meet on April 16 and according to Article 175A (2) of the Constitution it is mandatory to have a law minister present in its meetings. The meeting will discuss the appointment of additional judges of Lahore and Balochistan high courts. The Chief Justice said that it was important to bring it to the notice of the Prime Minister, President, Secretary Cabinet and Secretary of Law Ministry so that the government can take all necessary measures to resolve the issue of law minister's absence from judicial commission meeting.
