Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Secretary General, Liaquat Baloch has said that the parties which came to power after backing out from their decision to boycott February 2008 elections have failed to deliver and are fast losing public support. Addressing the monthly JI workshop for party workers at Mansoora, Baloch said that Pakistan Peoples Party was roped into the 2008 polls because of National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) while Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz was tempted by the establishment.
However, he said, during the last three years, governments have been continuing Pervez Musharraf's policies in clear disregard to the public mandate. He further said that PPP leadership is trying to distract party workers attention from the real issues by playing with their sentiments on the basis of Bhutto case and Benazir Bhutto's murder. He noted that during the present civilian rule, thousands of innocent people have been gunned down in Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) and Balochistan by the army. Discovery of mutilated dead bodies in Balochistan is worsening the situation there, he added.
Baloch pointed out that JI has a clean past and an excellent record of service in every field. He informed that JI has begun mass contact drive and is approaching the general public, especially the middle class and oppressed sections of the society to win their support.
Meanwhile, JI chief, Syed Munawar Hasan, former chief, Qazi Husain Ahmed, Secretary General, Liaquat Baloch and JI Foreign Affairs Director, Abdul Ghaffar Aziz have expressed deep grief over the sad demise of the Sheikh Muez Abdud Sattar. In a condolence message, they said that the deceased was a great asset of Ikhwanul Muslimoon and served Islam and Muslims throughout his life. They prayed that may Almighty Allah rest the departed soul in eternal peace.
