After the dramatic resignation of Babar Awan as law minister to plead reference of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto (ZAB) before the Supreme Court has raised many serious questions. The PPP government should have taken this case seriously and there was no need to dramatise it or draw political mileage from the case.
Since the judiciary is already independent, any shortcoming in pleading the case properly would finally prove fatal to the ZAB reference. I suggest the President Asif Ali Zardari to ask Babar Awan to take his resignation back as he is not only "proper person" in the country to handle such sensitive case. Instead, a panel of distinguished lawyers, irrespective of their political affiliations, must be formed to plead the case purely on merit.
