Oxfam GB (OGB) in collaboration with Pakistan Coalition for Education (PCE) will hold two-day International Conference on "Empowerment through Girls' Education in contemporary Muslim Societies" aimed at providing a strategic consultative platform to deliberate upon and generate policy recommendations in key areas of girls' education.
This was announced in press conference jointly organised by OGB and PCE here on Thursday. International conference revolves around sharing the best practices and critical challenges of girls' education in contemporary Muslim societies like Pakistan.
The one-point agenda of the pre-conference launch was to share the key contours of the upcoming International Conference under OGB's Girls Education Program Advocacy Strategy and to create pre-conference-hype through proactive engagement of media and screening of the animated documentary sequel, "Duniya Aur Larki".
The concept of "Duniya Aur Larki" rotates around the life experiences of many underprivileged girls in Pakistan. This particular story is told through the eyes of a young girl who simply wants to go to school and have a better future not only for her but also for the community around her.
The International Conference is followed by a series of four consultations in all provincial capitals on 'Girls' Education organised by PCE in collaboration with OGB. These consultations quite meaningfully served as a platform where different civil society stakeholders came up with the concrete suggestions /recommendations and policy action related to the girls' education.
The published report of the provincial workshops along with international conference report will be published and disseminated widely. All relevant stakeholders like policy makers and officials from key education departments, provincial task force representatives, SMCs, media, academicians, NGOs representatives, students, educationist and legislators have been the part of these consultations.
