Pakistan and Kazakhstan have agreed to promote co-operation in various economic and technical fields during the seventh session of Pak-Kazakh Joint Ministerial Commission (JMC), here on Friday. The session held here was co-chaired by Minister for Water and Power, Syed Naveed Qamar and Vice Minister of Transport and Communication of Kazakhstan, Azat Bekturov.
Both the delegates acknowledged deep historical, cultural and political relations between the two countries and expressed hope that current momentum, translating excellent political relations into commercial and economic opportunities, would further promote bilateral co-operation.
During the JMC session, discussions were held on promoting co-operation in various economic and technical fields, which include promotion of trade and investment, agriculture, joint venture in fields of manufacturing/SMEs, petroleum and natural resources, banking and finance, science and education, information technology, health, culture and tourism.
Both the sides also agreed to encourage their respective chambers of commerce and industry to set up a 'joint business council' to enhance interaction between the private sectors of the two countries. They also finalised a 'memorandum on mutual co-operation' between JSC; National Agency on export and investment "KAZNEX INVEST" and Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP). Both the sides also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on establishment of a joint investment company, besides signing of a MoU for co-operation between their SMEs.
Pakistan also offered Kazakhstan to trade with the South East Asia and Middle East through Pakistani ports and transit routes. The Kazakh side, also, appreciated the proposal for a joint study. Pakistan offered expertise of Railway Construction Pakistan Ltd, RAILCOP and Pakistan Railways Advisory and Consultancy Services (PRACS) as well as export of Rolling Stocks. Kazakhstan side requested to offer specific projects in the energy and petroleum sectors.
The two sides further hope to intensify and promote bilateral co-operation. Federal Minister for Water and Power, Syed Naveed Qamar said Pakistan have historical and bilateral relations with Kazakhstan and holding of JMC sessions would help further strengthened these.
