Pakistan is a country of peace loving and friendly people, said a Dutch couple who is on world tour for the past one and a half years. The couple is currently travelling around Pakistan in an old ambulance, which they have converted into a small house.
Roderick Polak and Mavleen Laverman said that they were very impressed by the hospitality of Muslims especially Muslims in Iran and Pakistan. They said that they would tell people upon their return to the Netherlands that Islam is the religion of peace and love. The couple said that Pakistani people are lovely and Pakistan is a land of splendor. The scenery, beaches, lagoons, mangrove, deserts, desolate plateaus, high mountains with beautiful valleys, snow-covered peaks and glaciers are beautiful and worth seeing.
Talking to Business Recorder about their stay in Lahore they said that Lahore is cultural capital of Pakistan and we are very much impressed by historical sites. We liked Lahore Fort, Badshahi Mosque, the Old City and Food Street. They said that they wanted to visit Pakistan to give the message to the world especially to the Europeans that Pakistan is a country of peace loving people. They stressed the need of increasing people to people contact among European countries and Pakistan. They said that this is the only way to remove misconceptions between the west and Pakistan.
Rodrick is a Biotech Engineer and Mavleen is a management expert. They have visited eleven countries so far which include France, Belgium, Spain, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Bulgaria, India, Iran and Pakistan. The couple said that during their visit they found some difficulties in visiting Balochistan due to poor law and order situation but they appreciated the hospitality of the security forces and local administration who supported them and guided them. They said that during their stay they would also visit Multan - the city of shrines. They also intend to visit Gilgit-Baltistan, which is well known for its beauty.
