National Highway and Motorway Police (NH&MP) North Zone (N-5) on Friday arrested a murderer of a taxi driver. Spokesperson of the NH&MP (N-5) Aftab Alam told Business Recorder that NH&MP beat-5 Mandra received an information on help line 130 that two persons have killed a taxi driver on GT road near Sagri Rawat. On receiving the information, Senior Patrolling Officer Iftikhar Ahmed and Patrolling Officer Muhammad Hanif reached the spot.
The culprits tried to escape from the scene, but after hectic efforts, the officers succeeded in arresting one culprit namely Junaid Iqbal resident of Kharian. After preliminary investigation, it revealed that both the culprits namely Junaid Iqbal resident of Kharian and Muhammad Naeem hired a taxi from Rawalpindi to Kharian.
Aftab said that on reaching near Sagri Rawat, they killed the taxi driver Muhammad Arif. After meeting all formalities, the officers of NH&MP handed over the dead body along with culprit and taxi to the local police of PS Rawat. FIR has been registered in PS Rawat and district police is trying to evaluate the actual cause of the murder. Aftab further said that Deputy Inspector General Motorway Police N-5 Abbas Hussain Malick appreciated the timely action of the officers to arrest the culprits and directed the personnel to keep vigilant to avert such incident in future.
