Free and Fair Election Network (FAFEN) in collaboration with The Asia Foundation (TAF) will strive for effective, transparent, and accountable governance through a complex, multi-pronged strategy, geared to enhance public engagement with elected, public and political institutions. The effort would help address critical challenges facing Pakistan today.
Under its three-year Supporting Transparency, Accountability and Electoral Processes in Pakistan (STAEP) Programme supported by UK Department for International Development (DFID) and Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands (RNE), FAFEN will expand scope of its existing work to 200 National Assembly constituencies in 120 districts across Pakistan. The programme will be implemented by 32 of 44 member non-governmental organisations of FAFEN in four provinces, Islamabad Capital Territory and all agencies of Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata). The new phase of the programme was launched in a ceremony, here on Friday.
The ceremony was addressed by Ms Mossarat Qadeem, Chairperson Free and Fair Election Network, Muddassir Rizvi, National Co-ordinator FAFEN, Gareth Aicken, Country Director The Asia Foundation, Peter Hawkins, the representative of UK Department for International Development, Johannes Smeets, the representative of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and Sarwar Bari, Member FAFEN Executive Council.
