Total amount of foreign outstanding loans as on February 28, 2011 was $57.968 billion. Total Public and Publicly Guaranteed Debt of 'A' (medium and long term) $44.687 billion and 'B' (short-term) categories was $892 million, giving a total of $45.579 billion.
The loan from International Monetary Fund (IMF) was $8.882 billion while from central bank is $6.919 billion and private sector debt is $3.231 billion. Federal Minister for Finance Dr Abdul Hafeez Sheikh told this to the Lower House of Parliament on Friday in written reply to Ms Khalida Mansoor's query.
Multilateral debt is $25.212 billion including loan from Asian Development Bank (ADB) $12.131 billion, The International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) $1.679 billion, International Development Association (IDA), $10.667 billion wile other debt is $735 million including EIB, $62 million, IDB, $427 million, IFAD, $204 million, NORD. DEV. FUND, $15 million, NORD. I. BANK, $6 million and of Opec FUND is $22 million.
Paris Club Countries debt is $15.108 billion: from Austria $66 million, Belgium $34 million, Canada $546 million, Finland $6 million, France $2.234 billion, Germany 1.864 billion, Italy $106 million, Japan 7.663 billion, Korea $479 million, Netherlands $120 million, Norway 18 million, Russia $118 million, Spain $79 million, Sweden $149 million, Switzerland $119 million, UK $10 million and US loan is $1.498 billion.
Total non-Paris Club countries debt is $2.580 billion including: China $2 billion, Kuwait $110 million, Libya $5 million, Saudi Arabia $345 million and United Arab Emirates (UAE) $121 million. Total bond debt is 1.552 billion including Eurobond $1.550 billion and Local Currency Bonds (TBs & PlBs) is $2 million.
Similarly, Pakistan has obtained $100 million loan from commercial banks. Short-term debt is $892 million, which has been obtained from IDB. Bank borrowing is $275 million including medium and long term debt whose return period is more than one year is $112 million; Multilateral creditors is $70 million, Paris Club, $29 million, Non-Paris Club, $13 million and short term loans which are less then one year is $163 million.
Private-Sector Debt is $3.231 billion including multilateral creditors, $415 million, Paris club $1.398 billion, non-Paris club $254 million, PIA Medium and long term (>1 year) (SBP) $957 million, PIA Short term (<1 year) (SBP), $83 million, bonds, $124 million.
