Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference (APHC), Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, has said that the status quo policy maintained by India on occupied Kashmir is delaying resolution of the dispute. The APHC Chairman addressing in Srinagar a meeting of his party Awami Action Committee underscored the need for resolving the long-standing dispute at the earliest on Monday, asserting that it was imperative for establishing permanent peace in the region, KMS reported.
"Kashmir needs to be resolved through tripartite talks involving India, Pakistan and the Kashmiris. But unfortunately, New Delhi wants to maintain its policy of status quo. International pressure is mounting on India to shun its rigid stand and take steps to resolve the dispute," he said. Mirwaiz deplored that India had been using oppressive tactics to suppress the Kashmiris' just struggle for right to self-determination for the pat 63 years.
