Partly Facetious: Mukhtaran Mai judgement hasn't angered Dasti

"Mukhtaran Mai judgement has angered a lot of women rights groups."
Published April 23, 2011

"Mukhtaran Mai judgement has angered a lot of women rights groups."
"It hasn't angered PPP's famous Jamshed Dasti. The guy came on television and crowed about the justness of the decision."
"I agree and don't forget Dasti sahib is much loved by his constituents who voted him back into parliament after he had to vacate his seat for lying about his qualifications."
"The PPP leadership is sensitive about their academic qualifications you know."
"I don't see why considering that it's no longer a job requirement."
"It was a job requirement for the 2008 elections which explains why so many lied about their qualifications, but it won't be a prerequisite for the next elections as parliament has ruled otherwise."
"The fact remains that Dasti was guilty of lying and was reelected and one doesn't expect a public representative to lie."
"Which country do you live in?"
"The land of the pure if you will..."
"The name was wishful thinking I reckon."
"But..."
"And don't forget Dasti's reelection was supported by the Prime Minister as well as the party co-chairman!"
"I agree but Benazir Bhutto was highly educated, as would be her son and..."
"And if you think either of them would have done things differently with respect to supporting people like Dasti who have the vote bank then you are mistaken."
"But I simply cannot understand this fixation with claiming degrees that one simply does not have. I mean Babar Awan would have been where he is today even without that PhD degree from Montecello..."
"But you wouldn't have referred to him as Doctor and he does like that epithet. In any case look at the glass as being half full?"
"How is it half full?"
"Dasti sahib has agreed with a court decision. Women's rights groups as well as international rights groups evidently do not and that would please the party leadership."
"I guess this can be referred to as having one's cake and eating it too."
