Provincial Minister for Labour, Haji Ehsaan Uddin Qureshi has said that the persons and institutions who have dedicated their lives and resources for provision of education and healthcare facilities to the common persons are the assets of the society. He called upon the philanthropists to utilize some amount of their earning on welfare oriented activities.
He said that private schools are playing a pivotal role for the provision of quality education and government highly appreciates the services of private sector for the enhancement of literacy rate and considers it an active partner in the struggle of promotion of education in country.
While talking to a delegation of Private Schools, Haji Ehsan Uddin Qureshi said that provision of the education is constitutional obligation of the government, but government cannot do this duty single handily, and requires the support of private sector in this regard. It is encouraging that Private Schools are providing education of international standard and presence of quality school is a healthy sign for the education system of the country. He said that the government under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, the Minister said that Punjab Educational Endowment Fund has been set up for providing scholarships to poor but talented students to enable them continue their studies.
He said that revolution has been launched in education sector through setting up of computer labs in 4286 schools at a cost of five billion rupees. He said that millions of students are acquiring IT education each year under Punjab IT Labs project. The Minister said that the 40000 educators had been recruited first time in the history of the country on the basis of merit and eligibility through transparent procedure.
The labour department has also introduced reforms in its schools system so that to provide quality Education to the children of labourers, he concluded.
