Prime Minister, Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Sunday said that Pakistan People's Party (PPP)-led coalition government will resolve all public issues by following the vision of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Shaheed and Benazir Bhutto Shaheed. He was addressing a public gathering here after inaugurating Cadet College Okara on Sunday.
The Prime Minister said that education and provision of rights to masses are the basics of PPP manifesto. He added that all possible steps would be taken to give quality education to the citizens. He further said that all genuine problems pointed out by the MNAs and MPAs of the area would be resolved soon on priority to provide relief to the people and alleviate poverty. He announced to start work on dualization of Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Avenue passing through Okara.
Recalling the steps taken for the farmers' community, Gilani said that PPP government gave a number of facilities to them to improve their lives. He directed the ministry of food and agriculture to adopt sufficient measures for purchasing wheat crop from the farmers across the country so that their problems in this regard could be redressed.
Referring to the issue of Military Farms and tenants, Gilani announced to form a committee comprising officials of Defence Ministry and other stakeholders, which would work for giving proprietary rights of land to the tenants. He also said that ministries of finance and industries would initiate working to further facilitate the industrialists at Okara Industrial Zone.
He said that to spend the grants on the masses is not a favour by the government, but it is the due right of common people that their tax money is spent in their area. He added that government would leave no stone unturned to provide due rights and relief to the people of Pakistan.
The Prime Minister felicitated Christians on Easter and reiterated the PPP's commitment to protect rights of minorities. He said PPP is making efforts for the empowerment of women in the country and to include them in the mainstream. He added that women would be protected under Benazir Income Support Programme through health insurance, assistance for child education and other benefits.
