President of Multan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) Shahid Naseem Khokhar has demanded of the government to take measures on a war footing for solving the issue of power as well as gas loadshedding. In a press statement issued on Sunday, he said that more than 12 to 16 hours loadshedding in urban and rural areas have
hit the whole system. "Industrialists, traders, common man, students and patients are in deep trouble but the government is not taking steps to control the situation," he added.
Residents and businessmen have called for a protest movement against electricity long loadshedding in Multan. Due to the 575 megwatt electricity shortfall from Multan Electric Power Company (Mepco), loadshedding hours are now up to 12-16 hours in the urban areas and 12-14 hours in the rural areas. As a result, people are facing problems in every day activities.
