Current energy crisis in the country has forced Peshawar Electricity Supply Company (Pesco) to carry out load shedding throughout Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, said a spokesman of the company here on Wednesday. The company, like other distribution companies, is carrying seven to nine hours load shedding on all 11 KV feeders according to the allotted of 720MW quota in power shortfall.
The company has appealed the consumers to minimise use of electricity so that the load shedding duration may be reduced. Some time RCC NPCC Islamabad also go on forced load shedding in addition to the scheduled load shedding to avoid total collapse of the distribution system.
Pesco has requested that load shedding is a compulsions at the moment and its duration can be reduced only with the co-operation of public by minimising use of electricity, replacing bulbs and tube lights by energy savers and reduce use of other electric appliances specially during peak hours. The tubewell operators of water supply schemes have also been requested to follow the load shedding schedule and operate tubewells during the electricity timing. Meanwhile, the company has recovered an amount of Rs 8.5 million in its operation cleanup against defaulters and power theft in city rural division.
During operation in Nishtarabad, Chamkani, Hashtnagri, Rehman Baba and Lal of City Rural Division Peshawar removed 368 direct hooks, registered 220 FIRs while 24 persons were arrested for power theft. Chief Executive, Pesco Mohammad Wali has directed all the field officers and staff to fully utilise their energies for the removal of Kundas and recovery of arrears, so that the electricity distribution system must become smooth and public may get rid of power interruptions in addition to increase in the revenue of the company an enable it for provision of more facilities to the consumers.
