The National Assembly has been moved for making resolution of Kashmir dispute a pre-condition for giving "Most Favoured Nation" status to India. A 'cross-party resolution', singed by 11 members of the Lower House of the Parliament belonging to two factions of PML and an independent lawmakers was submitted to National Assembly Secretariat by Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PML-Q) MNA Marvi Memon on Saturday.
"This House resolves that Most Favured Nation status to India should be a pre-condition for resolution of Kashmir dispute. Any effort to grant MFN status to India prior to resolution of Kashmir will be considered as a lethal blow to Kashmir cause," says the resolution.
Those who have signed the resolution include, Marvi Memon, PML-Q from NA-307, Hamayun Saifullah Khan, PML-Q; Muhammad Raza Hayat Harraj, PML-Q; Malik Shakeel Awan, PML-N; Ms Surriya Ashgar, PML-N; Ms Parveen Masood Bhatti, PML-N; Ms Shahnaz Saleem PML-N; Qudsia Arshad, PML-N; Anjum Aqeel Khan PML-N; Malik Shakir Bahir Awan, PML-N; and Mohammad Kamran Khan, Independent from FATA.
Pakistan has hinted at granting Most Favoured Nation status to India in the two-day high level trade talks between the two countries that were held here last Thursday. In the joint statement issued after the talks, Pakistan had recognised that grant of MFN status to India would help in expanding bilateral trade relations. Both sides also agreed to remove the Non Tariff Barriers (NTB) and all other restrictions hampering bilateral trade.
